Radio Cab Foundation 7th Annual Charity Golf Tournament Saturday, October 1, 2011 - 8:00am start A benefit for the Radio Cab Turkey Project Get ready to tee off for Portland's first charity golf tournament of early autumn and support a great cause: providing hunger relief to families in need. Players of all skill levels are welcome! This event will take place at the beautiful Heron Lakes Golf Course near the banks of the Columbia River in North Portland. Heron Lakes was "Readers Choice Top 50 Public Golf Courses" by GolfWorld Magazine. Co-sponsored by D-Vine Wine, Widmer Brothers Brewery and Ron Tonkin Mazda, this four-person scramble offers lunch, light refreshments, great prizes... and great golf! History For the last six years, the Radio Cab Foundation has hosted a community golf tournament event, inviting golf enthusiasts to raise funds for the annual Radio Cab Turkey Project, helping Portland families each Christmas. How to Play The "Scramble" golf tournament format is probably the most popular format used in tournament play for associations, fundraisers and charity events. In a four-man scramble format, four players play together as a team. Each player on the team tees off from the tee box. The team members select the best tee shot of the four, and ALL golfers then play their second shot from that location. Play is continued in this manner until the hole is completed. After the hole is completed, the team score is recorded and play continues under the same guidelines on the remaining holes.
